Back from OLE (sad or happy?)
After 6 days of OLE, phew...I'm finally back!
But I also brought back injuries too...worst of all, I lost my specs...oops.
Actually, after the whole trek, everything seem kind of relax...hmm...but coz of the 16.5km(total) trek, it makes me feel like going for another trek again...But the best thing about the whole camp is that we met two wonderful guides! E and Izan
The 4th day of OLE, which is also the day that we can spend most of our time with E and Izan before they left as the next day, we gathered around the guides at the place where they cook for us (campfire?) and we sort of 'chat' with them. We can't really communicate well with them as they speak mostly malay and knew a bit of english and we can't speak and understand malay...thus, we can only guess what they were trying to say and vice versa...but we actually learnt a bit of malay in the process and I think they also learnt some eng and chinese words from us...
E and Izan pampered us alot (haha...YEAH!), maybe that's becoz we are a all girls grp. They cooked for us even though we were supposed to cook ourselves and their cooking are really fabulous. Kind of ashamed of myself...( I only knew how to cook maggie...lol)
Izan even made bamboo spoons for us till 4 am.( Terima Kasih!) And E, despite going to have another grp the next day, came to see us off at the train station, and we only manage to leave at around 2 to 3am...And we going to send the photos which we took with them to them... :) We were quite emotional the last few days as we knew that after we left, the chances of us seeing them again is extremely small. (unless there's fate...) But we really want to thanks them for giving us such happy memories at taman negara. They really helped us a lot, esp. during the trek...If E and Izan being our guides, I don't mind going to taman negara to trek again :) (and I'll definitely bring my camera along) A lot, a lot of thanks to E and Izan. Terima Kasih! :)
We were only taking long trip bus on the first day and camp somewhere at a 'island' i guess, and we had a nice lunch and dinner tt day. On the 2nd day, we met E, one of our guides, and we went for Canopywalk (nt very scary, u juz have to walk) and we went to the Orang Asli Village, where we saw how the people there lived. We also saw their animal traps, and I don't really understand that part. The people from Orang Asli Village taught us how to make fire using natural materials, and I think none of us knew how to do it...haha...In the end, at night when we supposed to make fire and cook by ourselves, E and Izan cooked for us instead...lol
We also learn how to shoot a target using a tube made of bamboo...but I didn't even manage to shoot any part of the 'target'. We also met the children (they're really cute. kawaii!) and we sort of tried to interact with them, but they were quite shy, I guess.
We only started trekking on the 3rd and 4th day and the trek was quite tough (to us) even though it's only 2 days 1 night. We brought 6 bottles of water but it's nt enough for us coz we sweat a lot and it's tiring. We had to be careful of thorn plants and logs (yeah, we have to climb over them) and we finished the trek with the help of E and Izan. I guess they are sort of our 'heros' as I think we can't really came out of the jungle safely without their help and encouragement. But I think the trek was quite special as this was something we will not be able to have in S'pore. I mean, we only have forests here right? and I don't expect to see elephants and caves in the forests. We stayed in Kepayang cave on the first day and it's scary as there are rats in it, and I'm very scared of them. There's a incident that happened that night which I would not say, well, neither of our leader or guides were willing to tell us what happened. We continued trekking the 2nd day of the trek and E and Izan are really nice to us, they even helped us to take our trashbag...Thanks alot to them :) We got out of the jungle which actually seems kind of amazing as I didn't knew that we could come this far, but we did! haha.
Erm, then, yeah, at the night of the day, we gathered around the guides to spend as much time we can with them. Touching moments I can say...but we didn't really talk much...
On the 5th day of OLE, we went to the Ear Cave, ( Gua Telinga, Telinga means ear, E told us tt) It's a bat cave la. But Izan didn't go with us, and we heard that he helped us clear things up at the campsite. (we really think that they did too much things than what they were needed for us) It's the first time I had a close distance interaction with the bats, new to me, but it's quite difficult to walk in there. We need to bend down, climb here and there, and it's very dirty (erm, with all the excretory materials of the bats.) We thought we will not be able to see Izan again, surprisingly, we saw him at the floating restaurant with the boat that had all our stuff, but sadly, we didn't spend much time with him. Anyway, he said 'Miss U!' to us when we were leaving :) We took a bus with E to the resort and spend some of our time there. E actually tricked us when we got down the bus and made us taught tt he going to leave but we saw him eating at the resort, together with us! After that, he went to rest in his room (which none of us knew this, thinkin that he had left, until we saw him again when we taking bus to train station...) When we saw him again before we were about to leave for the train, many of us cried...
He stayed with us for quite some time but left as he got a grp the next day (it's 2smt am) He wanted to come back but we asked him not to...Then we spend the night in the train till morning, and poof! we reached S'pore. (lame)
I liked this camp although it's tiring for the trek, but the nature there is really something that we can hardly see in S'pore and I think the people who lived there have little problems, unlike Singaporeans who lived in a big city. Yup yup, and it's 5.20am in the morning now and I suppose I going to end this post.
And what I left to say is : E AND IZAN, TERIMA KASIH! :)
But I also brought back injuries too...worst of all, I lost my specs...oops.
